The younger sibling of fine diner Fico, this casual restaurant serves the best pasta we’ve eaten outside of Italy. Walk-ins available for the shared table or book early to secure a table to yourself.

Tucked into an unassuming shopfront in a CBD-fringe street, this is a favourite with critics and locals for its handmade pasta and well-curated wine list. It only seats 25, so book well in advance.

Enjoy a view of the waterfront from the dining room or deck while you enjoy authentic tapas and larger plates. Save room for the Basque cheesecake.

Pub food but make it amazing. Every day is different here as the chefs make the most of whatever rolls in the door from local growers, producers and suppliers. Bookings recommended. @tmchugos

It started as a doughnut stand at the markets and now it’s a bricks and mortar diner serving breakfast, lunch and Friday dinners. Freshly baked pastries, housemade pasta and a crisp wine list are all part of what makes this newcomer a must-visit. @trophyroomhobart

Set aside the afternoon and enjoy a uniquely Tasmanian degustation experience at this tiny fine-diner that sits in a paddock with a breathtaking view up the coast. It’s hyper-local, sustainable and one of the country’s best restaurants. Bookings essential. Fun fact: co-owner Laura designed Braithwaite!
